How to brew the best Orpha's coffee

Coffee is a perishable item, and it looses freshness after 48 hours of roasting it. That is why Orpha's ships your coffee in a sealed bag, with a 'degassing valve'. Just roasted coffee emits carbon dioxide (CO2). Coffee needs up to 24 hours to fully degas before being packaged in a sealed container. During this degassing process, oxygen degrades the coffee, causing it to go stale. However, when a valve is used, the coffee can be packaged immediately after roasting. These valves allow the CO2 to exit the package, but will not allow oxygen or other gases back in. That way your coffee will be fresh, as it was roasted yesterday!

Storing your coffee : You should store your coffee in an air tight container in a cool and dry place, like a pantry. NEVER store it in the refrigerator! Coffee absorbs odors. The coffee will smell or taste like your food in your refrigerator or freezer.

Grind your coffee before brewing : It is best to grind the coffee yourself, that way it will preserve the freshly roasted smell, and all of its qualities. Preferably use a burr grinder. Blade grinders tend to grind the coffee unevenly.

Water : The water is one of the most important factors of a good coffee. Whenever possible, use filtered or bottled water. Tap water makes a chlorine tasting coffee.

Measure : We recommend to use 2 tablespoons per cup of water. Adjust the ratio to fit your taste.

Never reheat your coffee! Enjoy immediately after brewing.
